     I live in an area that was devastated by Hurricane Katrina and I know what it is to lose everything.. However, everything that was lost in the flood waters of Katrina has now been replaced except the precious photos which for the most part were all lost.  The only photos that I was able to salvage were the ones that I had  on DVD and was able to take with me when I evacuated.  Even some of the DVD's that were found in my flooded home were cleaned up and work just fine. This shows you the durability of this digital media and it will last almost a lifetime, especially when you compare it  to the life of paper photos.
